Day 2 – Bruges guided tour

Guided tour of Bruges, famous for lace making, chocolate and its picturesque network of canals and whose historic city centre is included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List – an optional short cruise on the picturesque canals of Bruges to see the city from a different perspective – rest of the day free at leisure in Bruges.

Day 3 – Ghent, ‘In Flanders Field’ & ‘The Last Post’

Day 4 – Antwerp, Diamond Pavilion & Diamond Land

Guided tour of Antwerp takes in sights such as the Great Market Square, Town Hall, Butcher’s Guild House and the Cathedral of Our Lady – at the Diamond Pavilion we discover the significance of the industry to Antwerp’s economic success since the 15th century and contemplate the origin of diamonds and the glittering ornamental gems they become – at Diamond Land we learn about the diamond grading process.

Day 5 – St Omer & Cristallerie d’Arques

Time at leisure in St Omer to explore its bourgeois 17th century buildings and Flemish style architecture – the glass factory at Cristallerie d’Arques employs 11,000 people and produces 5 million items of glassware each day – continue for our Channel crossing back to the UK and then return to our original departure points with comfort stops en route.

Tour Reviews

Reviews for The Cities of Flanders

Date of tour: October 2014

Unfortunately just before my holiday I started with a bad back and hip and had to take along with me a three wheeler stroller walking aid. I want to tell you how very helpful your tour leader and your driver - Lance and David were for me. Nothing was too much trouble for them and without their help I wouldn't have managed the holiday. I want to thank them and recommend them for the future for anyone who wishes to take this kind of holiday which is no mean task with 27 elderly people.
