Day 1 – Mount Stewart House
Scheduled flight to Belfast from your preferred airport – the National Trust’s Mount Stewart House and Gardens offers magnificent views over Strangford Lough and its famous gardens were planted in the 1920s by Edith, Lady Londonderry – transfer to the 4* Dunadry Hotel.
Day 2 – Guided tour of Belfast & The Ulster Museum
Tour of Belfast with our guide taking in the Falls Road and Shankhill areas of the city, St Anne’s Cathedral and Stormont Castle – guided tour of The Ulster Museum, home to a rich collection split between floors of art, history and natural sciences and a section focusing on The Troubles.
Day 3 – Giant’s Causeway & Old Bushmills Distillery
Travel the North Antrim coastline – the National Trust’s Giant’s Causeway was formed from lava eruptions over 60 million years ago and with many rich traditions in explanation of its strange rock – guided tour and tasting at Old Bushmills Distillery, Ireland’s oldest whiskey distillery dating back to 1608.
Day 4 – Guided tour of Derry & Tower Museum
Guided tour of Derry takes in the Bogside and the City Walls, completed in 1618 and amongst the best preserved city fortifications in the Western world – the Tower Museum’s ‘Story of Derry’ studies the city’s history from the Plantation, through to the Siege of Derry and the city’s troubled political past, while ‘An Armada Shipwreck - La Trinidad Valencera’ tells the story of one of the largest ships in the Spanish Armada which sank off the Donegal Coast in 1588 – afternoon at leisure in Derry or join our optional train ride through wonderful scenery to Coleraine.
Day 5 – Titanic Experience
Titanic Experience is housed in a new £90m, six floor building as high as the world famous ship’s hull and located beside the historic site of its construction – this state of the art visitor experience tells the story of the Titanic, from its conception in Belfast in the early 1900s, through its construction and launch, to its famous maiden voyage and tragic end – transfer to the airport for our flight home.

Northern Ireland was lovely and so was our group. We had amazing weather, a bit chilly but sunny. All the outings were really interesting and worthwhile. The hotel was lovely, friendly and fed us well. Our guide and the coach driver were delightful. They were informative, funny and very thoughtful.

A belated warm thank you for such a successful holiday. The very comprehensive itinerary was perfectly tailored to our interests with so many well-maintained National Theatre houses to admire and it was very good value. I also found the Titanic Experience most impressive and feel it is a "must" for visitors to Northern Ireland. The hotel was the ideal base, very spacious, good and most generous meals and particularly welcoming, helpful and efficient staff. Our most informative guide, excellent driver plus a comfortable coach added greatly to our knowledge and we learnt a great deal of the country's history, agriculture, industry and literature as we travelled. My congratulations on what was an exceptionally well planned and executed six days, coupled with fine weather throughout, gave us all 100% enjoyment, as so often with Tailored Travel holidays.

I wanted to write to say what a splendid holiday you organised for Reigate U3a last week. Some wonderful visits; including Titanic, which I was not looking forward to (as I used to sail in smallish yachts) but I thoroughly enjoyed it - by bypassing the area to do with accident and aftermath. The guide and driver were special too! Lots of good information and precision driving. The highlight for me was being allowed into Stormont at the time the newly elected politicians were being interviewed by hordes of press. Some of our group even appeared on the 6pm news! I’ve just returned from the tour to Northern Ireland with my U3A. I’d like to say what a fantastic trip it was. The tour was a great mix of history, nature and sightseeing. I understood very little about NI beforehand so was really interested in finding out about it. The highlight for me of this tour, though, was the choice of guide and driver as they made it so good. I believe they were the most helpful, thoughtful and informative team of all the trips I’ve been on. So well done Tailored Travel for this wonderful holiday.
