Tour Reviews
Reviews for Legendary Transylvania & Bucharest
Date of tour: June 2018
You must be getting tired of all the praise you receive from satisfied customers, but every one of the people on the Romania trip were so enthusiastic about what a wonderful time they had had, quite a few of them saying it was possibly the best trip we had organised, that I had to write and thank you. Our little Travel Group were quite overwhelmed by all the praise we had heaped upon us, when you were really the ones who had ensured that we would have such an enjoyable time. You, particularly, showed such understanding, kindness, patience and attention to detail, even when I was at my most nit-picking. As Damian had promised, the hotel in Bucharest was fabulous, we all had excellent rooms and the reception handled checking in so efficiently. We had a very good free buffet in the dining room before we went to the concert. What a way to start our trip of Romania, a Beethoven concert by a very well know pianist and orchestra, everybody was bowled over, even the people who said they did not like to go to classical concerts. We would all have paid just to visit The Athenaeum Concert Hall, it was so beautiful. As usual, you found us one of the best guides in Romania. He was very professional, clever, well read, well travelled, knowledgeable, spoke fluent English, loved Romania and his enthusiasm was contagious. He never used a note, he knew every date and he respected every religion. He had looked up what kind of a group we were and tailored each day so that we would get the most out of each visit. I think he was a little disappointed in our lack of knowledge on films that had been made in Romania, but he persevered! The tour of the city’s highlights was excellent, and he went out of his way to extend the day by taking us on a tour of the Old Town, which was fascinating. On the Sunday, we visited the Romanian village which was so interesting, and our guide explained the culture and history whilst we wondered around the houses from different Provinces and ages. The tour of the winery was very interesting, but the lunch was even more interesting, wonderful food and excellent wines. We all left in a very cheerful mood. We were then driving through Transylvania, and the forests and mountains could not fail to impress, it is so Alpine. The hotel in Brasov was not as good as in Bucharest, and the staff were nowhere near as helpful, however, the situation of the hotel was perfect, you could leave the hotel and explore everywhere in the city. The spa was a great hit with some of our group and, being the greedy whatsits we are, the breakfasts were a real highlight. We all enjoyed this tour so much because it encompassed so many different experiences. Sinaia was a real gem We loved Sighisoara and the Saxon Church at Viscri. I think a number of us were not expecting Romania to be a very interesting destination, but we were wrong, there was a lot to see and I think we have been lucky to visit the country before it became very touristy and much more expensive. Thank you very much. You did an excellent job, and we are all very grateful.
