Suggested Itinerary
Day 1 – Tatton Park
Board our private executive coach at your preferred pick up points – visit a carefully selected National Trust property en route such as Tatton Park in Cheshire, one of the great country estates – continue to the 3* Newby Bridge Hotel at Newby Bridge.
Day 2 – Holker Hall, Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway & Lake Windermere
Holker Hall is home to Lord and Lady Cavendish whose stately home and beautiful gardens are framed by the Lakeland Hills – arrive at Lakeside & Haverthwaite Steam Railway taking us through the Levan Valley, one of the Lake District’s most beautiful valleys – 45 minute cruise on Lake Windermere from Bowness-on-Windermere affording us wonderful views of the Lake and its shores.
Day 3 – Wordsworth’s House & Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway
Morning visit with our local Blue Badge guide to Wordsworth‘s House and Garden – Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway passes through two of the Lakeland’s most picturesque valleys on its seven mile journey to Dalegarth.
Day 4 –Ullswater, Kendal & Sizergh Castle
Trip to Keswick and a cruise on Ullswater (cruise ticket extra) sailing from Pooley Bridge down to Glenridding – time for lunch in Kendal, the southern gateway to the Lake District, which was granted its market charter in 1189 and built largely of grey stone earning it the nickname of 'the auld grey town' – visit the National Trust’s Sizergh Castle and Gardens, a medieval house extended in Elizabethan times and surrounded by beautiful grounds.
Day 5 – Moseley Old Hall
En route home we stop at another National Trust property such as 17th century Moseley Old Hall in Staffordshire, once a haven for Charles II.
