Reviews for Budapest - The Pearl of the Danube
We have just returned from a splendid few days in Budapest. Known as ‘The Pearl of the Danube’ for good reason, the city is a real treat offering a wealth of beautiful architecture and a fascinating insight into Hungarian history.

Everyone on the Budapest tour was so enthusiastic about what a wonderful time they had had; I have received a present, emails, telephone calls, texts, all saying it was the best holiday yet. I feel a bit of a fraud really because you were the power behind the throne, you were the one who arranged every little detail, and put up with all my nit picking. Your kindness, patience and attention to detail is what has made this trip so memorable. Everything about this trip went well. The hotel in Budapest was excellent, such a wonderful location, if you wandered off on your own and could not get your bearings, all you had to say was ‘Please could you tell me where the Opera House is’? The service in the hotel was first class, and I did hear some people say that the breakfast was the highlight of the day, although we were surrounded by restaurants so where to eat in the evening was no problem. The real star of Budapest was our guide, Sophie. She was truly professional. She was so enthusiastic about Hungarian culture and history and she was able to convey that love to the whole group. She never stopped working or thinking what would be best for each of us, all the time she was working in the background to ensure that all our visits ran like clockwork. However, Petra, without all your groundwork, and all the thought you put into the itinerary it could have been a totally different tour. Thank you very much from all of us, we would have no hesitation in recommending the Budapest trip, but only organised by Tailored Travel, to any Society.

Just wanted to thank you for all the arrangements for our weekend in Budapest. Everything went well. The hotel was very nice, clean and friendly staff. Few initial problems with showers, safes, etc but soon sorted once reported. Overall very good, excellent location. Sophie was a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable and helpful. The trip to the Equestrian Park was a success and the local food good and plentiful. A great success. Will be in touch next year for further city break recommendations.

[Taken from a note to the guide, Eszter] Thank you so much for looking after us so well in your beautiful city. I loved your enthusiasm for your country and for the wonderful older buildings and I am so glad that the country is now free of Russian domination. You gave us an excellent account of the history of your country and I now feel I understand what has happened in Hungary over the centuries much better than I did before. I also think Attila was a very good and careful driver and so helpful to the more infirm and elderly members of our group, kindly seeing them off the coach - not a bit like Attila the Hun! It was a pleasure meeting you - I shall recommend other NADFAS societies to come to Budapest and shall recommend you as an excellent tour guide. Thank you again.

Arrangements made by Tailored Travel were excellent. The general feeling on our guide Eszther was that she was good but not excellent. The Hotel being central was greatly appreciated. Sitting together for the evening meal was great for social integration of the group. General opinion on the food was that it was good but not outstanding. The programme was appreciated by all. The one hour boat trip was a great success. The optional visit to the dance theatre was also successful. The extra day which I asked for went down well as we visited a town which was not so much of a tourist spot, had a good ride through the Hungarian countryside and a very enjoyable visit to a vineyard which was lavish with its food and drink and no hard sell afterwards as they only seemed to deal in barrels and not bottles. An excellent holiday and was enjoyed by everyone. The arrangements by Tailored Travel were great, everything going smoothly. All who went would recommend Budapest as a place to visit.
