Reviews for Northern Spain & the Picos Mountains
Just a big thank you for organising the tour to Northern Spain - all went exceedingly well. We were very pleased with all the arrangements, the hotel, the trips, the coach and its driver - all went so well including our tour guide Paul, who was so informative, helpful, kind and engaging. Oh yes we also had a selection of wines with our evening meal and the Hotel Owner arranged a wine tasting evening also, very entertaining. Everyone on our tour was impressed. So again many thanks.

The brochure suggested that we should have great expectations for our holiday to Northern Spain and the Picos Mountains and I can assure you that we were absolutely delighted. We enjoyed a great hotel, great food and drink, wonderful locations to visit, great company and our fantastic tour manager Paul Richardson who also stayed at the hotel with us. We also discovered that our 4* Olimpo Hotel served generous quantities of wine with each of our evening meals. Thanks are due to the Tailored Travel team for a really great holiday – I wonder can TT produce another holiday to match or even exceed this one?

I would like to compliment all concerned with our recent tour of the Picos Mountain area of Spain. The itinerary was varied and interesting, the transfers were hassle free, and the tour guide, Paul, was informative and friendly. I would recommend your company on the basis of my experience on this trip.

A great big thank you, to and your team, especially Paul - we would like him as our Tour Manager on all of our holidays! A great time was had by all. Many thanks.
AW, Newbury June 2016
Thank you for recommending this excellent trip, which we greatly enjoyed. There were so many plusses, the itinerary, the location, the hotel, the food and drink, the company and particularly our tour manager, Paul Richardson. As I mentioned when we spoke on the phone this was our best Tailored Travel holiday yet. So we are of course expecting great things in the future. Please convey our grateful thanks to the Tailored Travel team, and especially Louise and Paul Richardson.

We have just returned from a fabulous experience in Northern Spain and I, on behalf of all of our Group, wish to thank you for all the arrangements you made which went like clockwork. A special mention for our tour manager, Paul, who kept us entertained and looked after us so well. What a mine of information he is. Our driver, Rosendo, was also excellent, quickly generating supreme confidence in our group that our journey would be safe and comfortable. All in all a most enjoyable holiday which will live long in the memory.

I am just writing to say how much we enjoyed the trip Northern Spain & the Picos Mountains last month. The programme was well produced and most of all your guide, Paul, was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. I hope I could travel with him again.

I recently went on a holiday with my U3A to the Olimpo Hotel in Playa de Isla. I would like to congratulate you on the quality of this holiday. The hotel and staff were both excellent and everybody I spoke to felt the same. Our tour guide Paul was very knowledgeable and was on call if ever he was needed him. In my opinion he did more than any tour guide I have ever had, was very friendly and amusing and I would recommend him to anyone.

I had a lovely few days in Northern Spain. I just wanted to let you know about Paul, our tour manager was very efficient, truly knowledgeable, spoke several languages and very comical. Along with our coach driver, they really did go out of their way to make our holiday special and a delight. Please give them a huge thank you from us all.

I’d like to congratulate you on behalf of myself and my sister, on the recent tour we took with your company. Everything about it was very good, even the weather! We’d especially like to congratulate the tour manager, Paul, who did much to make the tour so enjoyable. We’ll be travelling with you again.

Just a personal 'thank you' for all the help and support you gave us to make our recent visit to Northern Spain so successful. It all went very smoothly, and was a holiday we will not forget for a long time to come. The driver, Casper, was very good and the fact we had a Spanish speaking guest with us made sure we agreed all pick up and drop offs worked well. The hotel was exceptional - everyone was delighted with the comfort of the rooms and views from the balconies just breathtaking. The food and choices at all mealtimes was 5* and on the last day, we organised a 'Farewell Lunch' and there were as many photographs taken of the stunning dishes prepared for us as there were of the Picos Mountains! So please pass our grateful thanks on to the hotel, and we would all like to return sometime in the future. Well done, we do appreciate how much time and professional effort you put in to make these holidays so stress-free for us Organisers and we know by booking with Tailored Travel we have left nothing to chance.

This trip was one of the best and most enjoyable holidays I have ever been on. The hotel was excellent – staff, food, wine!! The trips were very well organised, enhanced by your tour manager Paul. Not only by his knowledge and very informative commentary and sense of humour, but also by his willingness to help with personal assistance when needed.

Stunning mountain gorges, sunlit Medieval villages, modern and prehistoric art, waves crashing against volcanic rock formations, peaceful sandy coves and unusual 'eccentric' stalactites. Northern Spain was introduced to our group of nearly 50 by Paul our good humoured and well-informed guide and Rosendo, our skillful coach driver. Unexpectedly good weather enabled us to enjoy the beautiful countryside at its best. We left our hotel in Isla each morning following a breakfast with choice enough to suit all palates confident that on our return the evening meal would delight. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful in meeting individual needs. Our leader Maureen's organisation was as usual amazing giving us all a wonderful holiday.
PC, Surrey May 2013
Everything about this tour was excellent. A wonderful hotel as our base and a most stimulating itinerary amidst stunning scenery. We were so privileged to have such an excellent tour manager in Paul. He really made the holiday. His expertise and immense knowledge was much appreciated. He was great company and extremely efficient and always caring and helpful.
SF, Thame May 2013
We are back - safe and sound. I would just like to thank you for all your patience and care to detail to make our holiday a success. We all had a wonderful time and now look forward to next year. Again many thanks.
MW, Reigate May 2013
We have just been on the holiday to Northern Spain organised by yourselves. It was a splendid holiday and we would like to congratulate you on devising such a superb itinerary; in the allotted time we were able to visit the Picos Mountains, The Guggenheim Museum and one or two attractive Spanish villages. The hotel lived up to its 4-star level and no-one went hungry (or thirsty!). We were fortunate to have Paul as our Tour Manager and nothing was too much trouble for him - really did his utmost to ensure that we were comfortable and that no-one was left out. The coach driver was the smoothest driver I have met and he needed to be particularly vigilant in the mountains. Once again, Tailored Travel produced a superb Group Holiday which was thoroughly by all 47 participants.
DO, Redhill May 2013
Everything was spot on. The hotel was excellent - clean, comfy and very friendly and efficient staff. The bus driver was a gem - loads of local knowledge and a very safe driver. And as for Paul, the tour manager, he was fantastic. He never showed any signs of stress, although I'm sure he must have felt it sometimes. I am sure I was not the only one who was grateful for his kindness. As for his knowledge of the history and geography of Spain in general and the area in which we were staying in particular - it was first class.

I would like you to know how much my wife and I enjoyed our recent visit to Northern Spain and the Picos with our U3A.There was much to be pleased about:
For our organiser, Margaret, we have nothing but praise: she organised the plan and details really well and led our group in an efficient, calm and caring manner. Another key figure
Your tour manager, Paul, was also excellent: we appreciated his great knowledge of Spain and his command of Spanish language. We liked his very interesting, well-timed commentaries on the places we were visiting, his good provision for each stage of our daily trips, his real competence and good manner (and good jokes). He mixed very well with all of us joining, for instance, different groups for dinner.
The centres we visited: Bilbao (Guggenheim), Picos Mountains, the prehistoric caves at Altamira. These were good and important places well worth a visit.
The hotel was excellent.
All these features made it easy for us all to travel around, happy, relaxed and appreciative of such a varied programme.
A&TG, Naseby May 2012
We would like to say that we really enjoyed our holiday organised by you. The Hotel Olimpo was very good, clean good food and the staff very friendly and helpful. The area was very pleasant, lovely beaches. Our driver was a good careful driver. Our tour guide Paul was excellent very smart friendly and very informative about the area we were visiting, with a very caring nature. Thank you.

On behalf of the 22 holiday makers who returned from Northern Spain, I would like to thank you for arranging a superb trip. The Hotel Olympo was comfortable and the staff extremely helpful and attentive. The itinerary was varied and interesting; in particular the Picos Mountains were breathtakingly beautiful. The coach comfortable and the driver excellent. Above all, Paul, our tour manager was outstanding. I felt perfectly content to leave all the organising during our stay in Spain in his capable hands; which meant that I was able to enjoy the holiday as much as the other members of the group. I have received nothing but positive comments about all aspects of this trip to date and don't anticipate anything different in the future.
CP, Aylesbury April 2012
We have just returned from our holiday to the Picos Mountains and Northern Spain and would like to say how much we enjoyed it – the hotel and facilities were all first class and the staff very attentive and courteous. Our tour manager, Paul, was excellent and probably one of the best we have experienced on any holiday. This really was an excellent holiday in every respect.
LR, Grantham May 2011
Having just returned from the holiday to Northern Spain, I wanted to write on behalf of the group to say what a wonderful holiday this has been. Why more people don’t visit the area I cannot understand, but we appreciated the fact the streets were uncluttered and the roads not filled with heavy traffic! The hotel was excellent, as Damian had predicted. Our trips out were all I had anticipated, none of them being too far away and all offering lots to see and do. Paul, our tour manager, was an excellent ambassador for you. Thank you all so much for all your help and patience with my questions.
