Itinerary

Your tour includes reserved Stalls or Circle seats for the Glyndebourne performance of Rossini’s ‘Il Turco In Italia’. A handsome Turkish prince lands on the coast of Naples looking for amorous adventures. In no time at all he meets a vivacious Italian girl who is accustomed to flitting between admirers, much to the displeasure of her elderly husband. This little group carries on its flirtations, rivalries and quarrels under the delighted eyes of the poet Prosdocimo, who, as it happens, has been seeking inspiration for a dramma buffo. Day 1

We meet our private executive coach at our designated pick up points. En route to our hotel we visit the National Trust’s Bateman’s property in Kent. This magnificent 17th century manor house was the home of Rudyard Kipling from 1902 to 1936, and most of the rooms including his book lined study are much as Kipling left them. We continue to the 3* Best Western York House Hotel at Eastbourne for a two night stay. A choice 3 course dinner without drinks is included in our hotel this evening.

Day 2

The morning is at leisure in Eastbourne, and on an individual basis you may choose to visit the Towner Art Gallery. Collecting and exhibiting contemporary art for nearly 100 years, the gallery presents historic, modern and contemporary art through temporary and collection based exhibitions. We then continue to Glyndebourne where we take our Stalls or Circle seats for the 4pm performance of Rossini’s ‘Il Turco in Italia’. After the performance, we enjoy an included set 2 course dinner without drinks at one of the excellent restaurants in the opera complex.

Day 3

After checking out of our hotel and en route home we visit the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum near Chichester. Situated in the heart of the South Downs National Park, this museum displays more than 45 rescued historic buildings from south east England. The buildings range from medieval houses to a nineteenth century schoolhouse and Victorian labourers’ cottages, and the museum depicts the stories of the people who occupied the dwellings. Taking carefully selected comfort stops en route, we return back to our original pick up points.

NB: Please note we reserve the right to alter the above itinerary if required for operational reasons. Given the historic nature of the places visited, a certain degree of walking will be involved, and this holiday may not be suitable for those with mobility problems. Price based on double/twin share. We stay two nights at the 3* Best Western York House Hotel (https://www.yorkhousehotel.co.uk/). Located on Eastbourne’s seafront and close to Eastbourne Pier, the hotel has a bar, restaurant and indoor swimming pool. All of our allocated Standard Inland Facing Rooms are en suite and feature a television, iron and ironing board, and tea & coffee making facilities. A choice 3 course dinner without drinks is included at our hotel on the first evening, and we enjoy a set 2 course dinner without drinks at Glyndebourne after the opera on Day 2.
A limited number of twin or double Standard Sea View Rooms are available at a supplement of £30 per person, and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
