Itinerary

Day 1

We meet at Heathrow Airport for our direct scheduled Aer Lingus flight to Dublin. On arrival we are met by our local professional guide who will accompany us on all transfers and daily excursions, and we travel by private coach to central Dublin. A guided introductory tour on arrival gives us a great insight to the city of writers and poets, and takes in such sights as Ha’penny Bridge, O’Connell Street and Christchurch Cathedral. We continue to the centrally located 3* Academy Plaza Hotel in Dublin for a four night stay on a half board basis.

Day 2

Our guide meets us at our hotel this morning and accompanies us throughout the day. This morning we enjoy a guided tour at the National Gallery of Ireland, housing 13,000 works of art, including works by Titian, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Poussin and Gainsborough. We continue to Trinity College to see the Book of Kells. Written around the year 800 AD, the book contains the four gospels and is one of the most beautifully illuminated manuscripts in the world.

Day 3

We enjoy a guided tour at Dublin Castle this morning, dating back to 1230 and located in the heart of the city. Here we visit the Chester Beatty Library containing a rich collection of manuscripts, prints, miniature paintings and early printed books. We also visit the State Apartments at Dublin Castle, the former private and public rooms of the Viceroys and the Viceregal Court, the seat of the executive and the focus of fashionable social life. This afternoon we enjoy a guided tour at Russborough House, often referred to as the most beautiful house in Ireland. Built between 1740 and 1750 in the Palladian style, by Richard Castle, the house displays fine plasterwork, a magnificent mahogany staircase, and stucco ceilings by the Lafranchini brothers.

Day 4

With our guide this morning we visit Powerscourt House and Gardens set in 14,000 acres with delightful lakes, ornamental hedges and gardens. The house was gutted by fire in 1974 but recently has been reborn as an exceptional tourist destination. The entrance hall now features an exhibition bringing to life the rich history of the estate, while the double height Georgian ballroom has been restored and hosts weddings and corporate events. This afternoon we enjoy a ‘Guinness Brewery Experience’, an intimate and exclusive tour through the working brewery that has stood at St. James’s Gate for the past three centuries. Our tour concludes with an included pint of Guinness overlooking Dublin’s skyline at the Gravity Bar.

Day 5

With our guide this morning we visit EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum. Recently awarded Europe’s Leading Tourist Attraction at the World Travel Awards, EPIC depicts the moving and unforgettable stories of those who left the island of Ireland, and how they influenced and shaped the world. EPIC embraces the past and the future with 1,500 years of Irish history and culture housed in its atmospheric vaults. After spending some time at leisure for lunch in Dublin, we transfer to the airport for our direct scheduled Aer Lingus flight back to London Heathrow.

NB: Please note we reserve the right to alter the above itinerary if required for operational reasons.
