Day 1 – UK to Porto

Scheduled flight to Porto – assisted coach transfer to our ship, the MS Magellan – after a welcome cocktail and dinner, there is an optional visit to the illuminated old town.

Day 2 – Porto & Regua

Optional excursion to discover the winding lanes and magnificent churches of Porto, Portugal’s second largest town and one of the most ancient in Europe, and the great port cellars in Villa Nova de Gaia where you have the opportunity to taste the wines – return to the ship for lunch and the start of our cruise – admire the wonderful landscapes up to Regua and pass the locks of Crestuma and Carapatello (the highest in Europe at 35 metres) – evening with a folk group or walk by night in Regua.

Day 3 – Ferradosa & Vega de Teron

Optional excursion to the Porto wines on the vineyards road with an opportunity to taste the port in a Quinta – rejoin the ship in Ferradosa for lunch – pass through the locks of Valeria and Pocinho and arrive at Vega de Teron in the evening – dinner and an evening's entertainment on board in Vega de Teron.

Day 4 – Salamanca & Vega de Teron

Optional excursion to Salamanca, a UNESCO World Heritage site with Roman, Arabic and Christian architectural treasures – following lunch in Salamanca we rejoin the ship in Vega de Teron.

Day 5 – Pinhao, Regua & Bitetos

Arrive at Pinhao for lunch – optional excursion to Villa Real with its beautiful 14th century cathedral – option of joining a lovely walk in the beautiful gardens of Solar de Mateus before joining the ship in Regua – passing amidst wild landscapes and impressive rocky outcrops along the way, we arrive in Bitetos this evening – dinner is followed by a folk evening on board our ship.

Day 6 – Porto to UK

Return to Porto and disembark the vessel – transfer to Porto Airport for scheduled flight home.

Your Ship

Five nights on full board basis in the middle deck cabins on the beautiful MS Magellan. There is an evening programme of entertainment and a welcome cocktail on the first night. All cabins have en suite shower and wc, a large window and are equipped with TV, radio, safe, hairdryer and air conditioning.
