Day 1 - Rome
Scheduled flight to Rome - transfer with our tour manager in our private executive coach to the 3* Hotel Portamaggiore in central Rome.
Day 2 - Rome & Galleria Doria Pamphilj
Guided introductory tour of Rome taking in such sights as the Forum, Circus Maximus and Coliseum - guided tour of the Galleria Doria Pamphilj which is home to a wonderful collection of works by a vast array of renowned artists including Rubens, Titian, Velazquez and Caravaggio.
Day 3 - Ancient Rome & the Borghese Gallery
Walking tour starting at the Mausoleum Augustus, then onto the Pantheon and the Piazza Navona where we have free time - guided tour at the Borghese Gallery, one of Rome’s most important galleries with sculptures by Bernini and works by Rubens, Caravaggio and Bassano.
Day 4 - Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel & St Peter’s Basilica
Guided tour of the Vatican Museum including Michelangelo’s ceiling fresco at the Sistine Chapel - wander around St Peter’s Square with its 248 colonnades, before visiting St Peter’s Basilica to see Michelangelo’s magnificent ‘Pieta’ and the splendid tombs of the Popes - walk up to Castel Sant’Angelo, the tomb of the Roman emperor Hadrian.
Day 5 - Villa Adriana & Villa d'Este
Travel to Tivoli for a guided tour of Villa Adriana, a gigantic complex designed by Emperor Hadrian incorporating lakes, fountains, libraries, baths, temples and gardens - Villa d'Este is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most famous Renaissance residences in Europe - transfer to Rome airport for our scheduled flight home.
