Itinerary

Day 1

We depart by executive coach from our designated pick up points and on arrival in Manchester we have a guided tour at Manchester Art Gallery, home to one of the country’s finest art collections in spectacular Victorian and contemporary surroundings. Highlights at the gallery include outstanding pre-Raphaelite paintings, craft and design, and early 20th Century British art. We continue to the centrally located 4* Crowne Plaza Manchester City Centre Hotel for a two night stay on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2

Our Blue Badge guide meets us at our hotel this morning and accompanies us throughout the day. Our guided tour of the city, takes in sights such as the Town Hall, Bridgewater Hall and Manchester Cathedral. We then enjoy a guided tour at Chetham’s Library, founded in 1653 and the oldest public library in the English speaking world. Later this afternoon we visit the Whitworth Art Gallery. Our guided tour on arrival introduces us to the Gallery’s impressive range of watercolours, prints, drawings, modern art and sculpture, as well as the largest collections of textiles and wallpapers outside London.

Day 3

This morning, and subject to availability, we enjoy a Behind the Scenes tour of the BBC at MediaCityUK. MediaCityUK is home to a whole host of favourites including Match of the Day, Blue Peter, A Question of Sport and BBC Breakfast. We spend some further time at leisure at Salford Quays and you may choose to visit the nearby Imperial War Museum North, an award winning building by international architect Daniel Libeskind. One of the most talked about Museums in Britain today, the Imperial War Museum North is about people and their stories and how lives have been and still are shaped by war and conflict. We then enjoy a guided tour of The Lowry. Set in a magnificent waterside location at the heart of the redeveloped Salford Quays, The Lowry houses the biggest public collection of works by LS Lowry with around 350 paintings and drawings, ranging across Lowry's artistic career. Taking carefully selected comfort stops en route, we return back to our original pick up points.

NB: Please note we reserve the right to alter the above itinerary if required for operational reasons. Given the historic nature of the places visited, a certain degree of walking will be involved, and this holiday may not be suitable for those with mobility problems. Price based on twin share. Minimum numbers required. Normal booking conditions apply.
