Itinerary
Your tour includes reserved Stalls or Circle seats for the Glyndebourne performance of Gioachino Rossini’s sparkling comic opera The Barber of Seville, full of wit, romance, and unforgettable melodies. It follows the clever barber Figaro as he helps Count Almaviva win the heart of the spirited Rosina, outsmarting her scheming guardian Dr. Bartolo. From the barber’s famous opening number ‘Largo al factotum,’ with its cry of ‘Figaro! Figaro!,’ to Rosina’s feisty aria ‘Una voce poco fa,’ Rossini’s comic opera is a riotously entertaining affair. Day 1
We depart by executive coach from our designated pick up points. En route to our hotel we visit the National Trust’s Standen House and Gardens in West Sussex. Designed by Philip Webb, the house is one of the finest examples of Arts and Crafts workmanship, with Morris & Co. interiors creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. This hillside garden is made up of delightful woodland and a succession of small very English gardens overlooking the Medway Valley and Weir Wood Reservoir. We continue to the Holiday Inn Brighton – Seafront Hotel for a two night stay. A set 3 course dinner without drinks is included in our hotel this evening.
Day 2
Our Blue Badge guide meets us at our hotel this morning and accompanies us throughout the day. This morning we enjoy a guided tour at Brighton Pavilion. Built for the Prince Regent, later King George IV, in stages between 1787 and 1823, the Royal Pavilion is remarkable for its exotic oriental appearance both inside and out. This magnificent royal pleasure palace was revered by fashionable Regency society and is still a distinctive landmark for Brighton today. This afternoon we continue to Glyndebourne where we take our Stalls or Circle seats for the 4pm opera performance of Rossini’s ‘The Barber of Seville’. After the performance, we enjoy an included set 2 course dinner without drinks at one of the excellent restaurants in the opera complex.
Day 3
After checking out of our hotel we visit the Towner Art Gallery in Eastbourne. Collecting and exhibiting contemporary art for nearly 100 years, the gallery presents historic, modern and contemporary art through temporary and collection based exhibitions. We continue to Charleston House, the home of the artists Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell (sister of Virginia Woolf) that became the country meeting place for the group of writers, artists and intellectuals known as the Bloomsbury Group. Taking carefully selected comfort stops en route, we return back to our original pick up points.

We stay two nights at the Holiday Inn Brighton – Seafront Hotel (www.hibrighton.com). Facilities at the hotel include a restaurant and bar, and all of our allocated Standard Rooms are en suite and feature a hairdryer, television, telephone, and tea & coffee making facilities. A 3 course set dinner without drinks is included at our hotel on the first evening, and we enjoy a set 2 course dinner without drinks at Glyndebourne after the opera on Day 2.
