Day 1 – Hill House

Board our private executive coach at the designated pick up points – Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s Hill House at Helensburgh is considered to be one of his finest domestic creations and the feel of the house is of restrained elegance combined with dazzling architecture – check in to the 3* Argyll Hotel at Inveraray.

Day 2 – Arduaine Gardens, Ardfern & Oban

Guided tour of the National Trust for Scotland’s Arduaine Gardens with fantastic views of Asknish Bay and the Sound of Jura and where the rhododendrons bring enthusiasts from far and wide – Ardfern, where we have time for lunch and to explore at our leisure, is a busy marina village on Loch Craignish set amidst fantastic scenery – rest of the day is at leisure in Oban, gateway to the islands.

Day 3 – Isle of Mull & Iona

Take the ferry from Oban to the largest of the Hebridean Islands, the Isle of Mull, where a guided tour including a ferry crossing to the island of Iona introduces us to the rich cultural heritage of these beautiful Islands.

Day 4 – Inveraray Castle, Inveraray Jail & Cruachan Power Station

Inveraray Castle is a remarkable and unique piece of architecture incorporating Baroque, Palladian and Gothic and featuring four imposing French influenced conical spires – located in the former courthouse and prison for Argyll, Inveraray Jail recreates the story of the men, women and children who were tried in the original courtroom and served their sentences in the prisonCruachan Power Station on the shores of Loch Awe is hidden deep within the mountain of Ben Cruachan and a guided coach tour takes us to the viewing gallery where the generating hall that houses the four generators producing electricity from water can be seen.

Day 5 – Falkirk Wheel

The Falkirk Wheel links two canals with water levels 115 feet apart, avoiding the traditional flight of 11 locks and the visit incorporates a memorable boat cruise – travel on to the original designated pick up points.
