Day 1 – Sudbury Hall

Board our private executive coach at the designated pick up points – visit the National Trust’s Sudbury Hall, a grand 17th century family home with richly decorated interiors, including woodcarving by Grinling Gibbons, and the Great Staircase, one of the most elaborate of its kind – continue to the 4* Tankersley Manor Hotel at Tankersley.

Day 2 – Bakewell, Haddon Hall & Arkwright’s Mill

Guided tour of Bakewell, famous for the production of the ‘tart’, or Bakewell Pudding as it is known locally – Haddon Hall, a fortified manor house dating back from the 12th century, is surrounded by terraced Elizabethan gardens – designed by Richard Arkwright and built in 1771, Arkwright’s Mill at Cromford is a world famous cotton spinning mill that is now home to a visitor centre, cafeteria and various shops.

Day 3 – Crich Tramway Village & Bolsover Castle

Crich Tramway Village, a lovingly restored period village that is also home to the National Tramway Museum and its world renowned archives, is nestled high up in the heart of Derbyshire overlooking the famous Derwent Valley – Bolsover Castle, a unique survival of a Stuart ‘prodigy house’, was designed solely for pleasure and extravagant display, a fashionable retreat into an imaginary golden age of chivalry – this evening there is the option of attending a theatre production in Sheffield.

Day 4 – Chatsworth House & Buxton

Chatsworth House, the home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, is one of Britain’s best loved historic houses and estates, is set in the magnificent landscape of Derbyshire’s Peak District National Park and is seen in the film of ‘Pride and Prejudice’ – guided tour of Buxton followed by time at leisure in this spa town.

Day 5 – Stamford

Renowned as the ‘best stone town in England’, Stamford is architecturally outstanding with numerous medieval buildings, as well as fine Georgian streets and squares.
