Scheduled flight to the Isle of Man – transfer in our private executive coach to the 4* Hilton Isle of Man in Douglas.

Day 2 – Manx Electric Railway, ‘Lady Isabella’ Water Wheel & TT Race Track

One way journey between Ramsey and Laxey on the Manx Electric Railway, one of Britain’s longest vintage narrow gauge railways – dating back to 1854, the Laxey Wheel, known locally as ‘Lady Isabella’ after the wife of the island’s governor at that time, is the largest water wheel in the world and was designed by Robert Casement to pump water from the mineshafts – we follow part of the route of the world famous TT races.

Day 3 – Manx Museum, Castletown Steam Railway, Castle Rushen & the Nautical Museum

The Manx Museum contemplates the natural history, archaeology and social development of the island – a 3 foot one way narrow gauge steam railway, opened in 1874 and still running with its original locomotives and carriages and the longest line of its type in Britain, takes us from Douglas to Castletown – the origins of Castle Rushen, standing in the old Manx capital of Castletown and one of England's best preserved medieval fortresses, can be found when Norse Kings fortified a strategic site guarding the entrance to the Silverburn River, and the castle was taken by Robert the Bruce in 1313 who occupied the Isle of Man briefly whilst attempting to invade Ireland – the Nautical Museum, located in a fine 18th century harbourside house and once home to the prominent Quayle family, displays many fascinating maritime artefacts including the 'Peggy', George Quayle's clinker-built yacht which was walled up for more than a century and a half before her discovery.

Day 4 – Peel & Cregneash Village Folk Museum

Morning is at leisure in Peel, one of the world’s smallest cathedral cities with just 3,800 residents, where you may choose to visit the House of Manannan heritage visitor centre or explore the narrow lanes leading from the working harbour with their specialist and antique shops – nestling under Meayll Hill and overlooking the Calf of Man, the Cregneash Village Folk Museum provides a living, working illustration of the traditional customs, crafts and skills which characterised the Manx crofter’s way of life.

Day 5 – Douglas

Morning at leisure in Douglas – transfer to the airport for our scheduled flight home.
