Day 1 - Tatton Park
Board our private executive coach at your designated pick up points - visit a carefully selected National Trust or English Heritage property such as Tatton Park, an opulently decorated early 19th century house sitting amid a landscaped deer park with the theme of Victorian grandeur extending into the garden - continue to the 4* Westerwood Hotel in Cumbernauld near Glasgow.
Day 2 - The Burrell Collection & The Glasgow School of Art
Tour with our Blue Badge guide of the Burrell Collection in Pollok Country Park introducing us to a staggering collection of over 9,000 works of art including important displays of medieval art, tapestries, English oak furniture and European paintings by artists such as Degas and Cézanne - guided tour of The Glasgow School of Art building, regarded as Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s finest architectural masterpiece.
Day 3 - Hill House, Tarbet & Loch Lomond
Hill House in Helensburgh is considered one of Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s finest domestic creations and, decorated with the help of Mackintosh’s wife, the feel of the house is of restrained elegance combined with dazzling architecture - time for lunch in the village of Tarbet, a picturesque village once described by Queen Victoria as being blessed with ‘splendid passes, richly wooded with the highest mountains behind’ - optional cruise on beautiful Loch Lomond.
Day 4 - National Gallery of Scotland & Royal Yacht Britannia
Guided tour of the National Gallery of Scotland in Edinburgh, home to Scotland’s greatest collection of European paintings and sculpture from the Renaissance to Post-Impressionism eras with paintings by artists such as Titian, Van Dyck and Tiepolo - the Royal Yacht Britannia served the Royal Family for over forty years and played a leading role in some of the defining moments of recent history with highlights being the State Dining Room, the Bridge and the Queen’s Sitting Room.
Day 5 - Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum & Willow Tea Rooms
Guided tour of the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow, Scotland’s most visited museum and home to one of Europe’s greatest civic art collections - afternoon visit to the world famous Willow Tea Rooms designed in 1904 by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, a chance to experience the splendour of a bygone era and take tea just as they did in the same rooms and interiors 100 years ago.
Day 6 - Little Moreton Hall
Visit a carefully selected National Trust or English Heritage property such as Little Moreton Hall in Cheshire, Britain’s most famous and arguably finest timber framed manor house - return to the original departure points with comfort stops en route.4* hotel
