Day 1 – UK to Chile
Overnight scheduled flight to Santiago via Buenos Aires.
Day 2 – Santiago, Chile (B)
On arrival in Santiago we are met by our guide for the coach transfer to the Novotel Vitacura.
Day 3 – Santiago (B, D)
Guided tour of Santiago taking in sights such as the historic Presidential Palace, the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral and San Cristobal Hill with breathtaking views over Santiago – dinner and folklore show this evening.
Day 4 – Santiago (B, L)
Head over mountain ranges and through fertile farmland to the port of Valparaiso to visit the New Parliament of Chile, Fisherman’s Wharf, the Naval Academy and take the cable car to the top of one of the 42 hills on which the town is built to visit the Naval Museum – included lunch – travel along the coast to the seaside resort of Vina del Mar.
Day 5 – Mendoza, Argentina (B)
Travel into Argentina – guided tour of Mendoza including a visit to General San Martin’s Park, Cerro de la Gloria and the surrounding area – check in to the central Grand Hotel Mendoza in Mendoza.
Day 6 – Mendoza (B)
With its high altitude, the shelter of the Andes and the fertile soil of the huge plains of the River Maipu, Mendoza is the wine capital of Argentina – our tour today introduces us to the wines of the region at a local Bodega before an optional lunch.
Day 7 – Iguazu Falls, Argentina (B)
Fly from Mendoza to the magnificent Iguazu Falls – situated at the meeting point of three countries (Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina), the Iguazu Falls are one of the world’s largest natural wonders and are higher than Niagara, wider than Victoria and consist of 275 separate falls– guided tour of the Argentinian side of the Falls – transfer to the 4* Saint George in Iguazu.
Day 8 – Iguazu Falls (B)
Choose to relax in Iguazu or join our optional excursion to explore the natural beauty of the Iguazu National Park in an open vehicle followed by a forest trek of 600 metres and a cruise in boats up the Iguazu Canyon to almost beneath the Falls.
Day 9 – Buenos Aires, Argentina (B)
Fly to Buenos Aires – transfer to the 4* Hotel Wilton.
Day 10 – Buenos Aires (B, L)
Guided tour of this beautiful city takes in the Playa de Mayo Square, Government House, the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Cabildo, the Recoleta where the tomb of Evita Peron can be seen and 9 de Julio Avenue (the widest avenue in the world) – included lunch at a typical Buenos Aires restaurant.
Day 11 – Buenos Aires (B, L)
Head into the countryside and enjoy a typical ‘asado’ barbecue lunch at a ranch with folk music and dancing and gaucho skills on horses – time to stroll in the gardens after lunch or, for the more adventurous, to ride on the Pampas with the gauchos!
Day 12 – Buenos Aires (B, D)
Choose from a day of leisure or join our optional cruise around the islands of the Delta of the Parana River with its many clubs, restaurants and the houses on stilts which are typical of the area – dine at one of Buenos Aires’ elegant restaurants followed by a tango show in the San Telmo area.
Day 13 – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (B)
Fly to Rio de Janeiro – check in to the Augustos Copacabana in Rio, located just two blocks away from the famous Copacabana Beach.
Day 14 – Rio de Janeiro (B, L)
Full day tour begins at the foot of the Sugarloaf cable car for a wonderful ride up one of the world's most famous landmarks – continue through the traditional suburbs of Cosmo Velho taking the cogwheel train up through the trees to enjoy the marvellous panoramic view of the city below – climb the steps leading up to the Statue of Christ the Redeemer for breathtaking views of the city of Rio and the expanse of the Atlantic Ocean.
Day 15 – Rio de Janeiro (B, L, D)
Drive south of Rio to the fishing village of Itacuruca and board a schooner for a relaxing cruise to the tropical islands of Sepetiba Bay – farewell dinner at Pampa Oceano followed by a show at Plataforma.
Day 16 – Rio de Janeiro (B)
Transfer to the airport for our scheduled flight home via Buenos Aires.
Day 17 – Arrive UK
Scheduled flights to Santiago, returning from Rio de Janeiro
