Day 1 – Munich

Scheduled flight to Munich – transfer with our tour manager in our private executive coach to the 3* Hotel Seeblick in the village of Bernreid, voted Bavaria’s most attractive village in 2006.

Day 2 – Herrsching & Nymphenburg Palace

Time at leisure in the town of Herrsching or choose to join our optional cruise on picturesque Lake Ammersee – the highlights of the Baroque Nymphenburg Palace, the summer residence of the Bavarian monarchs, include the ‘Gallery of Beauties’, commissioned by Ludwig I, the former bedroom of King Ludwig II and the impressive banquet hall with fine ceiling frescoes by Johann Baptist Zimmerman.

Day 3 – Wieskirche, Fussen & Neuschwanstein Castle

Wieskirche, an oval Rococo church designed in the late 1740s by Dominikus Zimmermann and regarded as his final masterpiece, was added to the UNESCO list in 1983 – time at leisure for lunch in the medieval town of Fussen, framed by imposing high mountain peaks and situated at the southern end of the Romantic Road – Neuschwanstein Castle is the ‘castle of the fairytale king’ that was built by the shy King Ludwig II in order to withdraw from public life but seven weeks after his death in 1886 it was opened to the public and today is one of the most popular of all Europe’s castles.

Day 4 – Linderhof Castle & Oberammergau Passion Play Theatre

Built between 1874 and 1878 and the smallest of King Ludwig II’s three royal castles, Linderhof Castle was originally intended as a hunting lodge but later he declared it would be a new Versailles and the wonderful French Rococo interiors and beautiful parkland certainly reflect that ambition – guided tour of the Oberammergau Passion Play Theatre where once again in 2010 in a production involving more than 2,000 villagers, a full orchestra and a vast stage, the villagers performed their world famous Passion Play, a tradition which first started in 1634.

Day 5 – Munich

Free time in Munich for lunch, to relax or for sightseeing – transfer to Munich Airport for our flight back home.
