SUGGESTED ITINERARY
Day 1 UK to Casalanca
Scheduled flight to Casablanca Mohammed V
International Airport where we are met by our tour
manager and private executive coach for the transfer
to the 4* Le Royal Mansour Merdien for a two night
stay on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2 Casablanca
Our guided city tour introduces us to the sprawling
cosmopolitan city that is Casablanca. Our tour takes
in the Medina, the famous Central Market, the
Hassan II Mosque (exterior visit) and the magnificent
"corniche" coast overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
Day 3 Rabat, Meknes & Fes
In Rabat, the capital of the kingdom of Morocco, we
explore the beautiful and peaceful Kasbah of the
Oudaya, the splendid Mohammed V Mausoleum, the
Hassan Tower and the Royal Palace. We travel on for
a tour of the imperial city of Meknes to explore the
medina and visit the most beautiful city gates in
Morocco, Bab El Mansour. After time for lunch we
continue to Fes and check into the 5* Crown Palace
where we stay two nights on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 4 Fes
The spiritual capital of the kingdom and the most
ancient of the imperial cities founded in the ninth
century, Fes remains a beautiful medieval city. We
have a whole day to experience its sights and
sounds – the UNESCO listed medina of Fes el-Bali,
the souks and famous tanneries and the Karaouyine
Mosque.
Day 5 Fes to Marrakech
From Fes we drive south through the foothills of the
middle Atlas Mountains passing through the berber
villages of Immouzzer Du Kandar and Azrou, the
Lake of D'Ait Oua and Ifrane, founded by the French
in 1929. After time for lunch in Beni Mellal it is on
to Marrakech, the "Pearl of the South”. We check in
to the 5* Atlas Medina & Spa Hotel where we stay
five nights on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 6 Marrakech
Our half day city tour this morning takes in the
12th century Koutoubia Mosque, Morocco’s most
famous and whose minaret is regarded as the
symbol of Marrakech, the beautiful carvings of the
Saadian Tombs, the fine architecture of the ancient
Bahia Palace and the Menara Basin, built for
military exercises in the 12th century and used as
a summer house for vizirs. After time for lunch,
the afternoon is spent in the souks, a maze of
hundreds of shops, small streets and narrow
alleyways and a feast for the senses with row after
row of spices, perfumed oils, magic potions, silver
and gold, leather goods, carpets and rugs.
Day 7 Ourika Valley
We enjoy a full day in the peaceful Ourika Valley.
Located approximately 60 kms from the vibrant
city life of Marrakech and nestling in the foothills
of the Atlas Mountains, the small mud houses
dotted along the valley give no clue to the 20th
century life we have just left behind. We visit an
authentic berber house powered by a water mill
and enjoy an included lunch while we soak in the
scenery.
Day 8 Marrakech to Essaouira
We travel west for a full day to the historic walled
town of Essaouira overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
Formely a Portuguese stronghold there is a
distinctive Mediterranean feel to this picturesque
town and our guided tour offers us a detailed
historical overview of Essaouira and a chance to
observe first hand the handicrafts of the Tuya
wood found only in Morocco.
Day 9 Marrakech
For our last full day in Morocco you have a last
chance to explore, sightsee and shop at your
leisure or, if you prefer, simply to relax by the
pool.
Day 10 Marrakech to UK
We transfer to Casablanca for our return flight
back to the UK.
