SUGGESTED ITINERARY
Day 1 Falmouth
We depart from our designated pick up points in
our private coach. We then travel on to Cornwall
where we stay at the excellent 3* St Michael’s
Hotel in Falmouth for four nights on half board
basis. Our evening meal is in the hotel.
Day 2 Tate Gallery & Barbara Hepworth Museum
Today we travel to St Ives to visit the Tate Gallery
and the Barbara Hepworth Museum. We have a
guided tour of the Tate Gallery with one of the
local gallery guides. After the morning visits we
have free time for lunch and to explore St Ives
prior to returning to our hotel for dinner. During
the summer months there is an optional evening
trip to see a production at the spectacular Minack
Theatre which is built into the cliff face with the
Atlantic as its dramatic backdrop.
Day 3 Eden Project & Lost Gardens of Heligan
This morning we have a pre-booked visit to the
Eden Project in St Austell. The Eden Project
houses plants, crops and landscapes from the
humid tropics and warm temperate regions
including olives, vines and citrus fruit from the
Mediterranean, South Africa and California. In the
afternoon we visit the award winning Lost
Gardens of Heligan, some eighty acres of walled
gardens and a huge kitchen garden. We return to
our hotel for dinner.
Day 4 St Michael’s Mount & Falmouth
Today we visit the enchanting island and Medieval
castle at St Michael’s Mount. Once the location for
a Benedictine priory, this converted 12th century
castle is now owned by the St Aubyn family and
run by the National Trust. Access is along a
causeway at low tide or, during the summer
months only, by boat at high tide (boat costs
approximately £2 per person payable direct).
In the afternoon we return to Falmouth where we
have free time to visit the Maritime Museum or
simply to explore Falmouth at your leisure.
Dinner is in our hotel.
Day 5 Kingston Lacy Mansion
We say goodbye to Cornwall and travel back
home. En route we visit a suitable National Trust
property such as Kingston Lacy Mansion in
Wimborne dating from 17th century with one of
the greatest family picture collections in the UK
and with beautiful interiors and garden.
