SUGGESTED ITINERARY
Day 1 Shugborough Estate & Liverpool
Board our executive couch at our designated pick
up points. En route to Liverpool we stop for a
guided tour at a carefully selected National Trust
property such as Shugborough Estate near
Stafford, a late 17th century mansion and seat of
the Earl of lichfield. We then travel on to Liverpool
and check in to the centrally located 4* Britannia
Adelphi Hotel where we stay for four nights on
bed and breakfast basis. The evening is free to
dine in the hotel or in town.
Day 2 Tate Gallery & Walker Gallery
This morning we have a talk introducing us to the
collection at the Tate Gallery set in Albert Docks
followed by time to enjoy the gallery at your
leisure. We then move on to the Walker Gallery.
With one of the finest collections of fine and
decorative art in Europe, you have time to enjoy
works by Rembrandt, Poussin and Degas, 20th
century works by artists such as Lucian Freud,
David Hockney and Gilbert and George and one
of the most important sculpture collections
outside London. You make your own way back to
the hotel.
Day 3 Port Sunlight Village & Speke Hall
Today we visit Port Sunlight Village built by the Lever
family for their workers. The village has over 900
listed and preserved buildings, wide streets and
beautiful gardens. On arrival we visit the Lady Lever
Art Gallery where we have a guided tour. After lunch
we visit the National Trust’s Speke Hall, one of the
country’s most famous timbered houses.
Day 4 The Lowry & Whitworth Art Gallery
Today we travel to Manchester. In the morning we
have a guided tour of The Lowry. Set in a magnificent
waterside location at the heart of the redeveloped
Salford Quays, The Lowry is an architectural flagship.
The Whitworth Art Gallery is our next stop. Our
guided tour introduces us to the Gallery’s impressive
range of watercolours, prints, drawings, modern art
and sculpture, as well as the largest collection of
textiles and wallpapers outside London. We return to
Liverpool where the evening is free to dine out.
Day 5 Charlecote Park
En route home we stop at another National Trust
property such as the beautiful Tudor estate at
Charlecote Park in Warwick where we have time to
view the house, the ‘Capability’ Brown deer park and
to take refreshments before onward travel to our
original pick up points.
