SUGGESTED ITINERARY
Day 1 UK to Dubrovnik
Scheduled flight to Dubrovnik where we are met
by our guide and private executive coach for the
transfer to the 3* Argosy Hotel in Dubrovnik for a
six night stay. Dinner is included tonight and the
other five nights are on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2 Dubrovnik
Coach drive along the coastal highway for a
panoramic view of the city walls and ancient
rooftops followed by a guided walking tour through
the UNESCO listed ancient town. Surrounded by
ramparts and fortresses, it is a treasure trove of
architectural and cultural masterpieces, scrupulously
preserved over the centuries. Our tour includes a
visit to The Dominican Monastery and Museum and
The Franciscan Monastery Museum with its 14th
century pharmacy.
Day 3 Dubrovnik
Our second guided tour focuses on the cultural
heritage and rich history of Dubrovnik. We visit
the Rector's Palace, the Cathedral and its Treasury,
the Synagogue and walk the City Walls.
Day 4 Trsteno & Ston
With its exotic vegetation and plants including giant
plane trees, palms and camphor trees, the
Arboretum at Trsteno is a delight. After a leisurely
stroll through the botanical garden, we head for
Ston one of the first towns in Europe to be built to a
definite urban plan and attracting hundreds of
visitors to its 5 kilometre long stone walls. Other
attractions include the old saltpan where salt is still
being produced and the famous oyster and mussel
farm.
After the sightseeing, we enjoy a small snack in
a Dalmatian cellar before returning to Dubrovnik.
Day 5 Mostar
Our full day tour to Mostar introduces us to the
varied cultures and religions that over the
centuries have left their mark. We drive along the
coast to the town of Neum, and then turn inland
through the mountainous areas of Herzegovina.
After a brief stop above the Deransko Lake we
drive along the Neretva River Valley to Mostar.
During the Turkish rule, the city was an important
trade centre and our guided tour will show us the
city highlights including an old Bazaar and the
Mosque. Our return drive takes us to Poitelj, a
picturesque fortress town rich in oriental
architecture.
Day 6 Montenegro
The Montenegro Littoral provides stunning
natural beauty and an abundance of historical
sites. Our drive takes us to the mouth of the Bay
of Kotor through the most beautiful parts of the
bay to the towns of Risan and Perast to Kotor
where we learn some of the history of this area.
Our descent from the heights takes us to Cetinje,
the one time seat of Montenegro rule. After time
for sightseeing in Cetinje, we return to the coast
with a short stop above Sveti Stefan and Budva
before a ferry ride across the bay back to
Dubrovnik.
Day 7 Dubrovnik
After the morning free in Dubrovnik we have an
afternoon transfer to the airport for our scheduled
flight back to the UK.
