SUGGESTED ITINERARY

Day 1 UK to Krakow
Scheduled flight to Krakow where we are met by our tour manager and private executive coach for the transfer to the central 3* Hotel Wyspianski for a four night stay on bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2 Guided tour of Krakow
This morning we have a guided city tour of Krakow taking in the important sights of the city. The Cloth Hall, with a splendid Renaissance edifice and an ornate roof adorned with grotesque masks, is the world's oldest shopping mall having been in business in the middle of the Grand Square for 700 years. St. Mary's Basilica, Krakow's principal church since the 14th century, is particularly famous for its wooden altar carved by Veit Stoss. The stately halls and exquisite chambers of Wawel Royal Castle were home to three dynasties of Poland's monarchs, and its collection of 16th century monumental Flemish tapestries is matchless. Wawel Cathedral, Poland's national sanctuary with 1000-year-old history, was the coronation site of Polish monarchs and is home to a wonderful art collection from Gothic to Renaissance and Baroque to Modern. There is then free time for lunch. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore Krakow at your leisure.

Day 3 Jagiello University & the Jewish Quarter
This morning with our tour manager we visit the 630 year old Jagiello University buildings, including the Collegium Maius (The Grand College). Rebuilt in the 15th century as a splendid late Gothic edifice around a vast courtyard with surrounding arcades, its alumni include the astronomer Copernicus and Pope John Paul II. We then visit the Czartoryskich Palace and Art Gallery whose collection includes Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘Lady with an Ermine’. After lunch we explore Krakow’s Jewish quarter with our guide.

Day 4 Wieliczka Salt Mines
The magnificent Wieliczka Salt Mines were established in 1978 as a UNESCO World Cultural & Heritage Site. Nine centuries of mining in Wieliczka produced 200 kilometres of passages and 2,040 caverns. The tourist route starts 64 m and ends 135 m below ground level where the world's biggest museum of mining is located with the unique centuries old equipment among its exhibits. This evening we have an optional farewell meal in a local restaurant.

Day 5 Krakow & Auschwitz
The morning is free to relax and do some last minute shopping or take an optional trip to Auschwitz prior to our coach transfer to the airport for our flight home

An extra 3 days in the beautiful Tatra Mountains from £149 per person makes for a relaxing add on to this tour.
