The Art & Chateaux of Provence
7 days from £499
Departing 2nd September 2007

ITINERARY

Day 1
We take our British Airways flight from London Heathrow to Munich (regional flights available on request). On arrival in Munich we are met by our tour manager and transfer to the 3* Hotel
Alexander in Kirchberg where we stay six nights on half board basis. This evening there is a welcome drink prior to our evening meal.

Day 2
Today we visit Rattenberg and Tratzberg Castle. Rattenberg is a
delightful medieval town famous for its glass crystal ware. The
medieval castle of Tratzberg dates from the 16th century and was once used by Emperor Maximillian. Having taken a small train to the castle entrance, inside are the stunning Hapsburg Rooms and the Fugger Room with Renaissance art and a wonderful armoury collection.

Day 3
Choose between a day at leisure in beautiful Kirchberg or join our optional excursion to Zell am See on the Gisela train, a chance to enjoy the romance of how train travel used to be. The train journey lasts approximately 2 hours 30 minutes and once in Zell am See we have time to wander around this enchanting town or to take a boat trip on the lake. Dinner in the hotel this evening is followed by the option of a night of traditional culture and dance at the Tyrolean evening.

Day 4
A full day in Kitzbuhel allows you time to wander through the narrow cobbled streets, chic designer shops, coffee/cake houses and restaurants or you might choose to take the cable car for lunch at the top of the magnificent Hahnennkamm Mountain which towers over the village.

Day 5
Salzburg is the home of Mozart and the ‘Sound of Music’ and we have an included guided tour of the old city taking in sights such as Hohensalzburg Fortress, the Cathedral, Mozart’s birthplace and the Mirabell Palace and Gardens.

Day 6
For our last full day we travel to Innsbruck and Achensee. Our included guided tour of Innsbruck takes in such sights as the Cathedral St Jacob, Imperial Palace and the Golden Roof. We then travel on to Lake Achen, one of Austria’s largest lakes, where we have a short stop to admire the views and enjoy
some coffee and cakes.

Day 7
Our morning visit to Kufstein is time for last minute sightseeing and shopping before continuing to Munich airport for our scheduled British Airways flight back to the UK.
